Sidecar profit commissions needed to support market stability: ACP’s Tobben

Fierce competition for sidecar capacity at the 1 January renewal led to downward pressure on fees, including performance commissions, in a trend that Brian Tobben, CEO at Aspen Capital Partners, has said is “concerning” for the ILS market.

The lowballing on fees came even though the market was “fairly well capitalised”, meaning there was “no need to add large amounts of capital”, he said.
